Outside the Box Ministries, Inc., or "OtB" as it is more simply known, is a Christian non-profit organization that specializes in the design and development of media projects, special events, educational resources, and websites for national and local youth organizations. OtB is a 501(c)3 Michigan corporation that was established in 1999 by Rolly Richert. We at OtB draw from over 50 years of collective youth ministry experience as we participate in project management, event planning, creation of visual concepts, and program production to advance the message of youth organizations in their cause for Christ. Each of the members of OtB is eternally grateful for the life-change that they've experienced through the power of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As a result, we're passionate about being an organization that brings glory to the One who has made us, drawn us, redeemed us, and called us to ministry. All of who we are as individuals and as an organization comes from who we are in Him.
OtB gets excited about the ability to come alongside other Christian organizations that have a heartbeat that is similar to ours. We find our greatest joy in partnering with organizations that share our greatest passions in life and ministry. Here are a few of the essential components that makeup our organizational DNA:
Youth - We desire to minister to youth and youth workers because we have a heart for youth ministry. Our expertise and experience is in ministering to youth and those that serve them on a daily basis. We are passionate about young generations and those that want to help them experience God in significant ways, and we will continue to serve them whenever possible.
The Gospel - The Gospel has impacted our lives and we believe it continues to impact the lives of students and adults today. Our events, media projects, websites, etc. are branded with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. OtB exists because we desire to advance Christ's Kingdom. We acknowledge that only He has the power to change lives, and we love watching Him do just that!
The Student in the Seat - Every decision, every project element, and every production component is determined by looking through the eyes of the viewer. At a student conference, each attendee is the most important person in the room. Our goal is to think, make decisions, and program for maximum impact on these VIPs. ((Here are some examples: if we're programming an event for middle school students, we might find ways to break up the program into shorter segments so that no one will get bored - including us; we take great care in preserving sight lines for the audience, ensuring that gear doesn't get in the way and that every seat can see a screen without impediment; we place great importance on clear, well-executed lyrics on screen so every attendee can participate with the music - singing or reading along; etc.)) All of what we do happens in attempt to maximize the impact on the people in the seats.
